The FlavourSpec operates isotherm in a range of 40-80°C and can be set to >100°C for baking out (cleaning). To better separate compounds the instrument uses a firmware steered ramping by its integrated Electronic Pneumatic Controller.
Besides the instrument itself the FlavourSpec® consists of an automatic headspace injector that does all sample conditioning. The operator just enters the measurement parameters (number of samples, conditioning and run time) via the very easy to operate menu on the sampler.
The FlavourSpec provides an automatic data acquisition on the device and when connected to a PC 3-D data visualization and analysis by G.A.S. Laboratory Analytical Viewer (LAV) software. Besides the possibility of quantifying single marker compounds additional software plug-ins allow to easily detect the appearance of new compounds or the differences of their concentrations to a reference sample to further match peak pattern with sensory wise defined flavours. The result classifies differences from a selected reference (golden standard) to quickly characterize e.g. the quality of a sample. This concept follows the approach of the so-called electronic nose, but using a specific and reliable physical separation/detection of the volatile compounds by GC plus IMS instead.
Further to that the GCxIMS Library Search software tool is based on the NIST retention (Kovats) indices which consists of more than 80,000 compounds and which can further be extended by the IMS drift times to achieve maximum certainty for unknown compounds in samples.
Being particularly developed for the quality testing the FlavourSpec is characterized by hands-on functionalities and outstanding user friendliness that due to its outstanding sensitivity (low ppb/µg/L-range) does not require any sample pre-treatment. The BreathSpec® consists of a Gas Chromatograph (GC) and an Ion Mobility Spectrometer (IMS) and is optimised for the sensitive detection of traces of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) directly in human breath.
The configuration of the BreathSpec® allows you to separate the high amount of moisture present in human breath by a GC column whilst still maintaining the extraordinary sensitivity of the IMS of the low ppbv-range for the relevant volatile organic substances that are used as markers for illnesses or toxic chemicals that have been inhaled by a human.
All parts and components that get into contact with the gas sample are temperature controlled achieving most defined analytical conditions and by this assuring reproducible results. This requisite and function allows at the same time carry out a cleaning of all gas carrying components in case the system becomes saturated or contaminated with VOCs.
Measurement results are available within a few minutes. An easy one-click menu enables the operation of the system even through a non-specialist. Manual or automatic operation modes as well as an automatic data acquisition plus as several straightforward software tools (plug-ins) for visualization and analysis make up the high flexibility of the system.

The Gas Chromatograph – Ion Mobility Spectrometer (GC-IMS) of G.A.S. combines the high selectivity of a Gas Chromatograph with the extraordinary sensitivity of an IMS (typically low ppbv range)
The technical configurations with gas chromatographic (GC) columns include standard capillary (15-60m) or multi-capillary of various stationary phases that are selected acc. to the requirements of the analytical assignments.
The GC-IMS has integrated temperature and flow controler allowing firmware steered ramping to better separate highly volatile compounds and shorten run times which is decissive QC related assignments. The availability of positive same as negative ionisation modes enables the applicability for a wide range of substances e.g. ketones, aldehydes, alcohols, amines, phosphor organics same as chlorinated or halogenated compounds.
The integrated six-port valve secures a very flexible sampling of gases. Further to that all relevant measurement parameters for method development are easy to access so that the operator can optimize the system with regard to his specific application.

While the standard configuration of the GC-IMS requires N2 or synthetic for its operation it can alternatively be equipped with a circular gas flow unit (CGFU) to be independent from any external gas supply. All these characteristics together represent highest flexibility and make up the usefulness of the GC-IMS as analytical online and/or on-site tool.
Through this the device can be applied for several analytical measurements e.g. testing for residual solvents, impurities from production, off-flavour detection, product or ingredients authentication, bad smell or TICs monitoring from industrial plants, perfume and cosmetics on human skin, etc.
As an additional on-site tool and to be indepedent from the use of gas cylinders G.A.S. has developed a circular gas flow unit (CGFU) to be coupled and supplied through the GC-IMS. By that only power is needed to have a portable field approved trace analyzer.

The Ion Mobility Spectrometer (IMS) by G.A.S. mbH enables the use of the IMS technology coupled to temperature ramped benchtop gas chromatographs (GC) and by that in very demanding analytical applications where high separation capabilities and/or sensitivity are needed. Compared to other detectors the IMS offers a second dimension of separation and by that full orthogonality so that co-eluting compounds can still be separated before they are detected at low-/sub ppb level. According to the laws of IMS which operates at atmospheric pressure ions are separated by their mass and structure. By that even isomeric compounds can be separated from each other. The applied tritium source with a low intensity lies below the exemption limit of the EU directive 96/29 EURATOM and therefore does not need any licencing. The operation of the detector can be in the positive mode to e.g. test for heteroatomic compounds when dealing with (off-) flavour inducing compounds. It also performs with outstanding sensitivity in the negative mode when testing for e.g. halogenated or sulphurous substances.
The compact device comes as ready-to-couple with software for setting of detector parameters same as drift gas flow. The customized transfer line is temperature-controlled and steered by the GC so that ‘cold spots‘ can be avoided. With the oven exit on the right the GC-typical MSD (mass selective detector), located on the left side, can still be used in parallel.
Many sources of natural and petroleum gas, from gas well, refinery or landfill, contain sulfur compounds that are odorous, corrosive and poisonous to catalysts used in gas processing. The Agilent 490 Micro GC is used for various process or field use related applications mostly where a 24/7 monitoring is requested, like: natural gas analysis/calorific value determination, biogas, bulk and trace analysis of refinery gas, stack gas, trace analysis of low sulfur in natural gas, oxygenates, halogenates, and HCN. As legislative and customer requirements are continuously increasing G.A.S. mbH engineered its sophisticated Ion Mobility Spectrometer (IMS) to fit into a 490 Micro GC channel. Advanced IMS electronics and adapted processing algorithms are developed to enable an optimal interfacing. The customized IMS-channel takes up the sample from the non-destructive Thermal Coductivity Detector‘s (TCD) vent and connects it to the IMS detector using a temperature controlled UltiMetal coated transfer line.
Various further applications are under continuous development at G.A.S. and its customers. Corresponding development of methods for new substances of interest are optimized with regard to their analytical and relevant on-site parameters.

With the popularity of analytical instruments, e,g, Mass Spectrometer, there are increasing demands of rapid and efficient microwave sample preparation instrument with high productivity. However, the present high throughput microwave digestion products on the market that mostly adopt the spring structure are those which may bear low pressure, be easy to be leaked, and may not be heated evenly and operated easily. The MASTER closed microwave digestion system is developed by aiming at coping all the above mentioned problems, and the followings may show its unique characteristics of the innovative technologies:
1. High-strength alloy carousel: higher pressure and better digestion performance.
The high throughput vessel, since being connected by the high tensile alloy draw bar, may withstand great pressure (≥10000Kg). Each digestion vessel may receive great supports from the vessel frame on its top and bottom and it may not be deformed or leaked under the pressure of ≤4MPa and temperature of ≤250℃. (However, those similar products made by other venders generally may bear the temperature of 210℃ maximally.)
2. UTH-Caro design makes the carousel stir the microwave, guarantee samples digested evenly
The high throughput vessel frame may homogenize the microwave field inside the chamber with the turning and stirring of frame vessel; therefore, up to 100 high throughput vessels may be heated evenly in the microwave field.
3. Safety Bolt: safer, more accuracy in result and higher recycling rate.
Quantified Safety Bolt design, ensures samples be closed completely and triggers a quantified pressure relief while over pressure; Safety Bolt unit, instead of safety membrane and other consumables, ensure the digestion vessel be sealed completely under normal working conditions, which avoids the loss of volatile elements and incomplete digestion. And only when the pressure is too high and may constitute a danger, the Safety Bolt will automatically blow out vertically and the cover auto-up to release the pressure, achieving quantified vertical blast pressure-relief to guarantee its well operation. Under normal operation, the Safety Bolt requires no replacement. In addition, it is easy for venting to open the cover after completion of digestion. (However, those similar products on the market may bear low pressure and temperature, and since the cover is not made of metal, it may not recover after deformation; consequently, it may be not flexible anymore and be useless as it loses its sealing function after several times of recovering. This is why the samples inside the digestion vessel are reduced or dried and it has low recovery rate.)
4. Uni-Turn technology, increased homogeneity and reliability.
The whole set of digestion vessels was designed to rotate continuously in one direction, it breaks conventions of<360° back and forth rotation, avoiding uneven heating on vessels and reducing impact on turntable motor to extend service life. The temperature and pressure cables are short, that they are free from twisting in running and can be disassembled easily.
5. 15 minutes fast cooling
Because of the high thermal conductivity of composite Xtra Fiber outer vessel and the efficient exhaust system, it only needs 15 minutes that the temperature cools from 200 ℃ to 60 ℃, greatly accelerates handling speed.
6. Easy operation with innovative tools
The various convenient operation tools may lessen the working burden of operators and increase the preparation efficiency. Let’s take the flexible trolley as an example. Such device may help the experiment personnel to place the high throughput rotary table with fully loaded samples (weighing 15-20kg) in the chamber and take it out easily. In this manner, the operator may not be required to contact the high-temperature and high-pressure digestion vessel directly and will not be injured by acid mist, perfectly ensuring the safety of the operation. The electric tool with fixed moment to close and open the digestion vessel may make the operation of high throughput digestion vessel rapid, simple and fulfilled.
General technical features:
1. Explosion-proof outer vessel made of composite Xtra Fiber, better than those similar products on the market.
The composite Xtra Fiber material is light, thin, and having better hardness (better than metal) and good rigidity. Moreover, its pressure resistance and corrosion resistance performances are much better than PEEK (Poly-Ether-Ether-Ketone) outer vessel. SINEO applies painted PFA processes, improves the corrosion-proof capacity by packing the composite fibers totally. Moreover, the high tensile invincible composite material may withstand pressure of 10000psi and temperature of 500-600℃.
2. Advanced and reliable pressure measuring technology by piezoelectric crystal.
At present, the air-pipe is generally applied to transmit, measure and control the pressure inside the vessel for most venders. The air-pipe has apparent demerit that is too long, usually 400-600 mm in length. Hence, the digestion turntable shall rotate back and forth in 360 degrees to avoid the air-pipe being twisted. Besides, the samples in master vessel may be polluted easily, and it may not withstand high pressure to prevent breaking the air pipe. Therefore, after years of research and development, SINEO acquires the pressure measuring technology by piezoelectric crystal, reliable and durable. Such technology may measure and control the pressure under 12 MPa. The measuring and control cable is quite short, only 120-140 mm, therefore, there will be no twisting, sealing joint or leakage. Such technology allows easy operation and its greats merit is the absolute isolation of measuring and controlling component and sample, thus giving no chance to cross contamination. Integrating the technology of synchronous rotation of temperature-pressure device and digestion vessel with the rotary table in one direction and the patented technology of junction box, the turntable plate may rotate towards one directly constantly. The pressure control system is the standard configuration of SINEO’s product, more reliable than units with temperature monitoring only.
Piezoelectric crystal is installed on the bottom or top of the vessel frame like an electronic balance, and the parameter of pressure will be delivered via electrical signal.
3. The temperature inside the digestion vessel can be controlled by the combination of precise measure of temperature inside master vessel and IR temperature scanning
The precise measurement and control of temperature inside the master vessel (Pt or optical fiber) combines with the IR temperature scanning, and the computer may identify the master vessel automatically and give the real-time comparison of temperature with standard vessel, more precise and reliable than only IR temperature measuring.
4. High throughput rotor with optional strong magnetic stirring function specially for extraction or synthesis
Ultra high pressure and high temperature 18-vessel digestion vessel and carousel may work under 6MPa and 260℃, quite suitable for digestion of insoluble samples or closed microwave synthesis under extreme conditions. The strong magnetic stirring function is available for this configuration.
5. 200ml vessels for large volume sampling.
LV-200 carousel with16-200ml vessels can be reacted simultaneously, and the sample size can reach 1-2 g. Magnetic stirring makes samples be digested faster and thoroughly. The patented design of innovative Safety Bolt can guarantee the safe as well as a completely digestion. The demand of large sampling digestion can be met.
6. Wireless remote visual monitoring system make reaction be clear at a glance.
